Home Doctor in Quatre Bornes
Our home doctor service in Quatre Bornes provides convenient medical care at your doorstep, day or night. A doctor can visit you at home and return when follow-up care is needed.
Who Uses Our Home Doctor Service in Quatre Bornes?
These are households rather than visitors, and the calls have a particular shape. Very often the person telephoning is not the person who is unwell.
A parent living alone
Most of these calls come from an adult son or daughter, sometimes from another country. You can give the address and the history, and, with your parent’s agreement, the doctor will telephone you afterwards.
Coming home from hospital
The first days after a discharge are when the questions arrive and there is nobody on hand to answer them. A visit at home spares a recently discharged patient a waiting room.
Long-term conditions
Blood pressure, diabetes, a chest that wants listening to every few weeks. Follow-up at the kitchen table rather than a morning of queueing.
Families with young children
A fever that climbs after the surgeries have shut. There is a short guide to fever at night if you would rather read before you call.
Care that comes back
One visit is sometimes all that is needed. What a household usually wants, though, is the second visit, and someone who remembers the first.
A doctor who returns
Follow-up visits are provided for patients under treatment. We try to send the doctor who saw the patient first; where the hour makes that impossible, the doctor attending has the notes from the earlier visit.
Someone who will speak to the family
With the patient’s agreement, the doctor will explain the position to the son or daughter who could not be there. A diagnosis passed down a family by hearsay helps nobody.
Tests without the trip
Blood tests and diagnostic sampling can be arranged at home, with same-day collection available where appropriate. For an elderly patient that is often the whole difference.
One of our four dispatch points
OCS doctors cover 37 localities across five regions, setting out from Grand Baie, Flacq, Quatre Bornes and Mahébourg. The central point is here.
- Our hotline and four dispatch points operate 24/7, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
- We aim to be with you within the hour, and usually sooner. The coordinator gives you an estimate for your address before the visit is confirmed.
- The fee is the same in Quatre Bornes as anywhere else on the island, and travel to your address is included.
- You pay after the visit, once the doctor has seen the patient, by cash, card or MCB Juice.
- You are given a receipt showing the diagnosis, the treatment and the cost, for your own records or an insurer.
- Our doctors work in English and in French.
